I have been talking a lot lately about healthier meal choices, and seafood is one protein that the doctors and I can agree on! Salmon is usually my go to seafood of choice, but this time I decided to change things up. This time we are having a Wild Alaskan Crab Legs feast complete with Garlic Herb Butter …..

Creamy Cilantro Lime Dressing, and Basil Pesto Mayo dipping sauces. We all know how much kids love to dip things, right? Well I have come up with several different options that are sure to make everyone in the family happy. Not only is this meal delicious, but it is also really simple to prepare.

How to make Wild Alaskan Crab Legs:

Garlic Herb Butter:

Heat the butter, garlic, dill, lemon juice, and pepper in a small saucepan until the butter is melted…..

Set the butter aside. I used a combination of defrosted Wild Alaskan King and Snow Crab Legs,{Dungeness Crab would be excellent as well}. Place them on a baking sheet {or two} and bake in a preheated 425 degree oven…..

for 4 to 6 minutes. They are already cooked, so we just need to heat them.

I placed a plastic garbage bag on top of a fun red checkered tablecloth…..

Then covered the table with newspaper…..

When the crab legs are heated, just dump them out onto the newspaper…..

You will also want to include a bucket {or bowl} for the shells, some lemon wedges, nutcrackers to break the shells, napkins, and seafood forks…..

I tried to get actual crab leg crackers, but they were sold out. My good old nutcracker {the one that I grew up with} worked perfectly. You will need to help the littlest in the family with the hard shells, but my kids have been able to crack them by themselves since they were about 5 years old. 😉

What do you serve with Crab Legs?

Serve your Wild Alaskan Crab Legs with your choice of dipping sauce and Baked Potato Wedges…..

Personally, my favorite dipping sauce is the Garlic Herb Butter…..

but the Creamy Cilantro Lime Sauce…..

and the Basil Pesto Mayo are delicious as well…..

To make the Basil Pesto Mayo, simply mix 1/4 cup of Basil Pesto with 1 cup of mayonnaise. BAM…..done!

How many crab legs do you need?

When purchasing Alaska crab legs, it is recommended that you purchase 1 to 2 pounds per person. If you have big eaters, or only serving crab, you will want to purchase extra….just to be safe. 😉
