Recipe inspiration:
The pensieve makes an appearance in several of the Harry Potter book and movies. It is a magical instrument used by Dumbledore and all of the head teachers to store and review memories. Wouldn’t that be nice to have in the muggle world?
In one of the movies this pensieve is shown as a large silver, shallow bowl flies through the air to rest on a table. This is where I got the idea to use coupe glasses on a silver tray. If throwing a large party, you could make a large batch and serve it in a silver bowl or large glass punch bowl.
The contents of the pensieve have a glowing blue hue that swirls around, almost like shimmering clouds.
They are all the same color, the two on the right are closer to the window. So fun!!
Recipe ingredients:
- To get a lovely blue cocktail we are using UV blue raspberry flavored vodka, and royal blue gel food coloring. Gel food coloring gives you a more intense color than regular coloring.
- Coconut rum adds a nice compliment to the drink without adding any color changes.
- I could not find Frostie, or Dad’s blue cream soda locally, so I used Jone’s clear version and added the food coloring. Jone’s makes a bubblegum flavored blue soda for a different flavor option.
- Diamond dust adds the fun shimmering look to the drink. Once the soda is added, your drink will start swirling around!
How to make Dumbledore’s Pensieve Cocktail:
Add a drop of blue food coloring to the bottom of your cocktail glass.
Pour in the blue vodka and coconut rum.
Sprinkle the diamond dust into the drink. Mix together with a cocktail stirrer or chopstick.
Top off with the cream soda and serve.
It is very difficult to photograph bubbles!
How to make blue glitter punch:
If you are serving a crowd, say 12 people, you can make one large batch to serve in a punch bowl.
- 12 drops of royal blue gel food coloring
- 12 ounces Blue vodka
- 12 ounces coconut rum
- 3 teaspoons diamond dust
- 48 ounces cream soda
Add all of the ingredients to a large punch bowl in the order listed. Serve immediately.
