Learn how to make the most amazing Air Fryer Crostini that is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. All you need is a baguette, olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, a clove of fresh garlic, and less than 5 minutes to create perfectly toasted baguette slices to serve with dip or your favorite soup!
Did you know that you can toast baguette slices in an air fryer? I decided to give it a try to serve alongside my Spinach Artichoke Dip and it turned perfectly! It is simple enough to make and serve with Creamy Parsnip and Apple Soup this winter.
What is crostini?
Crostini (kraw-stee-nee) is an Italian appetizer that translates to “little toasts” or “little crusts”. It is made with thin slices of baguette that are grilled or toasted and served with olive oil or a sauce for a simple presentation, or alongside cheeses, meats, vegetables, or condiments for a savory snack.

Ingredients needed
- A long, round, fine-textured French baguette. They are often sold in a package of two smaller loaves in the bakery section.
- Olive oil helps to keep the slices tender while toasting and adds flavor so a good quality olive oil is definitely worth it.
- Sea salt and black pepper give a boost of subtle flavor that will no overpower the toppings.
- A fresh garlic clove rubbed on the hot, toasted crostini adds a more intense flavor that is perfect for those of us that love garlic!

How to make air fryer crostini
Slice the baguette into half-inch slices. Brush both sides with olive oil and sprinkle with sea salt and black pepper.
Place the slices (mine will hold 12) into the air fryer basket.
Slide the basket into the air fryer. Press the “air fry” button, then set the time to 2-minutes and the temperature to 400°F. Press the Start button.
The air fryer will heat up, then cook for 2-minutes. You do not need to preheat or flip the crostini over halfway through.
When finished, remove the basket from the air fryer and place the crostini on a plate or serving tray.
Slice the end off the garlic and rub it over the top of each slice.
Serve immediately.
Depending on the size of your baguette and air fryer, repeat the process with any remaining bread slices.
Recipe FAQs
Both are Italian but the bread used makes the difference. Crostini are made with small, round loaves of white bread with a light texture, while bruschetta are made with wider slices of rustic Italian or sourdough bread.
Bruschetta, or bruscare, means “to roast over coals”. Crostini can also be grilled or toasted in the oven.
Allow crostini to cool completely and store in an airtight container on the counter up to 3 days for best flavor. Crostini can also be stored in the freezer for a month. Defrost overnight and reheat in the air fryer before serving.
