The holidays are upon us, and that means we are entering the season of holiday parties. Everyone will make some variation of Party Mix. They will set out bowls of chips and dip, and bake cookies…lots and lots of cookies! That’s all fine and dandy, but I like to show up with something unusual. Something unexpected. So when Four Roses Bourbon contacted me and asked if I would be interested in creating a recipe for the upcoming holiday season…..

Back to the drawing board and finally created these Chocolate Bourbon Truffles rolled in cinnamon sugar…or chopped nuts…or cocoa powder! You know me and choices. 😉

How to make Chocolate Bourbon Truffles

Start by placing the chocolate and butter in a large bowl {I used Ghirardelli bittersweet chocolate chips}. Heat on HIGH for 30 seconds

Stir and heat for an additional 30 seconds, stir and set aside.

Heat the heavy cream and corn syrup in a small saucepan over LOW heat until it begins to simmer.

Pour the cream over the melted chocolate and let sit for 1 to 2 minutes to completely melt the chocolate.

Stir to combine and add the Four Roses Single Barrel Bourbon and Simply Organic Madagascar pure vanilla extract.

Gently stir until thoroughly combined. Pour into an 8 x 8 baking pan, or 8-inch round baking dish if your square pan is filled with white chocolate truffle dip ;).

Chill in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours until firm.

Using a small scoop create your truffles.

Roll between your palms to make round balls and place on a parchment paper/silpat lined baking sheet. Sorry, no pictures of this step. There is already enough food lodged in the crevices of my camera, lol.

Mix sugar and Frontier Simply Organic cinnamon together in a small bowl…..

Roll chilled truffles in the cinnamon sugar.

Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator to chill until truffles are firm, about 1 hour. Store the Chocolate Bourbon Truffles in the refrigerator until ready to serve. They will start to soften as they sit at room temperature. Simply place them back in the refrigerator if they soften too much.

Ingredients

  • 10 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 1 Tablespoon light corn syrup
  • ¼ cup Four Roses Bourbon
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Cinnamon Sugar

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon cinnamon
  • cocoa powder, chopped pecans, flaked coconut (optional toppings)

Instructions

  • Place chocolate and butter in a large bowl.
  • Heat in microwave on HIGH for 30 seconds.
  • Stir and heat for an additional 30 seconds. Set aside.
  • Heat cream and corn syrup in a small saucepan over LOW heat until it starts to simmer.
  • Pour heavy cream over chocolate and allow to sit for 1 to 2 minutes to completely melt the chocolate.
  • Stir chocolate/cream mixture until combined.
  • Add the vanilla and bourbon and stir until well combined.
  • Pour into an 8 x 8 baking pan {or 8-inch round dish}.
  • Chill in the refrigerator for 1 to 2 hours until firm.
  • Use a small cookie scoop to form truffles. Roll between your palms to make into round balls.
  • Roll truffles in cinnamon sugar, or choice of other toppings.
  • Place on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and chill in the refrigerator until set, about 1 hour.
  • Keep chilled until ready to serve. Store leftover truffles in a sealed container in the refrigerator.

  1. I made these they are amazing. By themselves they tend to be a little too bitter so I voted them with sugar and cocoa and it balanced out the bitterness. Inused Jim Beam bourbon. They are little strong for someone that doesn’t appreciate bourbom. But on point for others the appreciate a glass of bourbon. I made them for Super Bowl weekend! I hope the party enjoys them as much as I enjoyed sampling! My tip: finish the bottle you take 1/4 cup from!

    I tried 4 different recipes for chocolate truffles just now. My husband agrees that this won, hands down! I didn’t have the 4 roses bourbon on hand but my husband told me to try his Disaronno that he had on hand and let me tell you, I am singing, “ It’s beginning to look allot like Christmas” at the top of my lungs right now, which means that I am super psyched to have my family try these on Christmas Day….if they make it to Christmas Day lol.
