- If you cannot find the green candy melts, you could mix white candy melts with electric green gel food coloring.
- Popped popcorn made in a stovetop popper or silicone popcorn popper in the microwave.
- Glass batter bowl for melting the chocolate.
- A very large bowl & silicone spatula.
- Green Jimmies, Jumbo Red Candy Hearts, and Holiday M&Ms.
- Silicone baking mat (like Silpat) or parchment paper for easier cleanup & a baking sheet pan.
- I used this Classic Grinch Doll and a 4 x 4-inch mini bucket that I bought from Zulily several years ago for a festive party display.

How to make Grinch Popcorn
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper or silicone liner, and set aside.
Pop the popcorn and remove any un-popped kernels, then pour into a LARGE bowl. Set aside.
Place the candy melts in a small microwave-safe bowl. Heat on HIGH for one minute, stir and heat for an additional minute. Stir and continue heating and stirring in 15 second intervals until the candy is melted and smooth.
Pour the melted green candy over the popcorn and gently toss until the popcorn is evenly coated. Add the candy coated chocolates (or any other mix-ins) if using, stir to combine.
Don’t strain your eyes looking for the candy coated chocolate, they were hiding behind a bag and I completely forgot to add them!! Seriously, it’s just not my week. 😉
Spread popcorn mixture over the prepared baking sheet. Sprinkle with the jumbo red hearts and lime green jimmies.
Set aside to cool completely. Once the popcorn has hardened, break it into pieces and transfer to a serving bowl or decorative popcorn bucket.
This delicious and easy snack is the perfect addition to a fun Christmas movie night! It also makes the perfect gift for your Grinch loving friends and family.
Expert Tips
- I have a 1000-watt microwave, so you may need to adjust your melting times based on your own oven.
- If it is hot where you live and your chocolate arrives melted, simply place it on a flat surface and resist the urge to play with it, lol
- Make sure you use a MASSIVE bowl to stir the popcorn. Mine is an old Tupperware Thatsa Bowl.
- I did not stir in the jumbo heart sprinkles because they are pretty delicate and I did not want them to break apart.
- Store leftover popcorn in an airtight container, at room temperature for up to 3 days. The popcorn may be softer after a few days but still quite delicious.
If you can only find the Vibrant Green, your Grinch Popcorn will be this Monster Mash Popcorn shade of green.
