Blonde Brownies also known simply as Blondies, these little baked goods are just brownies minus the chocolate. Yes that’s right, someone voluntarily removed chocolate from this dessert. While the motivation may be insane, the outcome is delicious. Okay that’s just crazy! Who in their right mind removes chocolate from a brownie???

Once I saw that it was Blonde Brownie Day, I just could not pass that one up. I mean, come on…..I am blonde after all!

What you need to make this recipe

  • unsalted butter
  • brown sugar
  • eggs
  • pure vanilla extract
  • sea salt
  • All-Purpose Flour
  • baking powder
  • semisweet chocolate chips
  • pecans

How to make Blonde Brownies (Blondies)

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray a 9 x 13 or 8 x 12 (1/4 sheet) pan with cooking spray. Set aside.

Toast pecans over medium heat until aromatic. Set aside to cool.

Toast Pecans in a non-stick skillet.

Melt butter in a medium-sized saucepan.

Add the brown sugar, and stir until smooth.

Brown sugar stirred into melted butter with a wooden spoon.

Remove pan from heat, and pour mixture into a large bowl. Allow to cool until lukewarm.

Chop pecans, set aside.

Whisk eggs into sugar mixture one at a time. Stir in the vanilla and salt.

Add the flour and baking powder to the mixture, stir to combine.

Flour whisked into the melted butter and sugar mixture in a large glass bowl.

Stir in the chocolate chips and pecans.

Chocolate Chips and Pecans stirred into the blondie mixture with a green spatula.

Spread the mixture evenly in the prepared pan, and bake for 30 – 35 minutes, until they’re light brown on the edges and the top. I added chocolate jimmies on top for fun.

Blonde brownie dough spread out in a baking sheet.

Place on cooling rack to cool, 15 – 20 minutes. Slice and serve.

Everyone sing along…..cause I’m a blonde ya, ya, ya. Who remembers that song?

  1. OMGosh, I saw the title, and I immediately thought of us singing that song! It all came back, those times in high school, or was it our late teens/very early twenties, where we jokingly sang the chorus of the blonde song (don’t even know the real title of it) at the most appropriate of times… yes, during blonde moments 😉

The blonde song aside…. I have never actually WANTED to try a blonde brownie, because who in their right mind removes chocolate from a brownie (???), but I’ll admit, you have intrigued me, and I must put it to the test with my fam’. After all, I never remember you particularly enjoying white chocolate, so you promoting a brownie with NO chocolate (except the chips of course) must be good.

    “Cause I’m a blonde B-L-O-N-D….”
