Oh how I love bread! Warm, soft, fluffy Dinner Rolls slathered in butter, make any meal a bit more special. With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I figured this would be the perfect time to share these amazing Dinner Rolls. Let your bread machine do all the hard work, then pop them in the oven and drool in anticipation as they bake. Filling your home with the unmistakable smell of fresh baked bread…..

Don’t you want to just grab that Dinner Roll and eat it right up? I know I do. These Dinner Rolls are one of my favorite parts of Thanksgiving dinner. I already told you that my plate is filled with carbohydrates, and these babies are the crowned jewel on that plate.

In this post, we are going to make these dinner rolls in a bread machine…because that is how I always make them. 😉 You can easily make them by hand or in a stand mixer if you prefer. Just remember that your water will need to be 110 to 115 degrees, not hot as listed in the recipe.

How to make perfect Dinner Rolls:

Pour hot water, honey, oil, beaten egg, and salt into the pan of a bread machine…..

Yes, that does say hot water. The water will cool down to the perfect temperature by the time the ingredients are all mixed together…trust me!

Add the flour, make a well in the center and add the yeast…..

Place pan in the bread machine, close the lid, plug in the machine, and select the “dough” cycle. When the machine beeps – Do Not Open The Lid – look through the lid and see how much the dough has risen. If it is less than 3/4 of the way up the sides, unplug the machine and allow to continue rising. If you open the lid, it will let all of the heat out. It could take another 30 – 60 minutes depending on temperature and humidity……

Remove the dough to a flour covered surface, and divide into 12 equal sized pieces. I find it easier to use a kitchen scale to divide the dough. Allow dough to rest for about 10 minutes…..

Roll dough into balls and place in a 9 x 13 baking pan that has been sprayed with baking spray…..

Cover with a kitchen towel, and allow to rise a second time until almost doubled, 30 – 45 minutes in a warm, draft-free spot. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees. In a small bowl, melt the butter in the microwave and brush the tops of the rolls…..

Place in a preheated oven and bake for 12 – 15 minutes until tops are golden brown…..

Remove from oven and brush tops again with remaining butter…..

These soft, fluffy Dinner Rolls are the perfect addition to any meal. Make the dough in a bread machine, bake them in the oven and they are super simple to make as well!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup hot water
  • ¼ cup honey
  • 3 Tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 ¼ teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1 large egg at room temperature (lightly beaten)
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 2 ½ Teaspoons active dry yeast
  • ½ cup melted butter to brush on top

    1. I don’t use a thermometer Alicia, so I don’t have an exact number. I just turn the tap water to hot, let it run for a few seconds then fill the measuring cup. Unless you are NOT using a bread machine, then you want the water to be between 110 and 115 degrees. 🙂
